Illenin Kondo is an Assistant Professor in the Economics Department at the University of Notre Dame. Prior to joining Notre Dame in 2017, he was a Senior Economist at the Federal Reserve Board of Governors in Washington, DC. He also taught at Johns Hopkins University while at the Board.

His research focuses on the labor market effects of trade reforms, sovereign debt and financial crises in advanced and emerging economies, and the firm dynamics underlying macroeconomic growth.

He received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Minnesota. He also holds a Masters degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Georgia Tech and a Diplôme d’Ingénieur from Supélec–the oldest electrical engineering school in France.
